About Trish Wood
I am the Starship Simulation Programme Manager and a Nurse Educator for the Children’s Emergency Department at Starship Child Health, Auckland, New Zealand. I have been involved in simulation for the past 8 years and have had a lead role in the Starship Programme for the past 5 years. I have a passion for paediatrics, emergency medicine and education. My role in the Starship Simulation Programme has enabled me to deliver education that actively engages and advances clinical teams to improve health outcomes for children.
Visions and goals for IPSS
My vision for IPSS is

- to promote in-situ, multidisciplinary education
- to support developing programmes and practitioners
- to improve health outcomes for children in our communities
Strengths and experience
I am an organised person and have a positive can do attitude. I am keen to assist IPSS and continue to promote simulation and team training.
I am on the executive board for the New Zealand Association of Simulation in Healthcare for the past 5 years, and have held roles of Secretary and Treasurer. I am also involved in education programmes in the South Pacific.
I am looking forward to participating on a global platform to improve health outcomes for children.
